The Reconstruction Journal is an exciting and easy book-making format that is sure to revitalize your practice! Use it to house all your creative projects from Visual Journaling, art journaling, artist books, to sketchbooks and beyond. This is not simply an altered book project; it is fully reconstructed! For all levels! If you are looking for perfection and traditional book binding methods, this course is not for you.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: For years I worked primarily in blank sketchbooks. Then I moved on to altering books for my visual journaling practice. Nowadays, I no longer alter books for my Visual Journaling expressions; I fully reconstruct them. The Reconstruction Journal is my secret to rich and textured layers that look like I put a lot of effort into them. Reconstruction begins with the removal of the pages of a found book where we then rebuild this book from scraps using my unique mixed media techniques. This project is an experience in freedom, raw expression and letting go and learning to trust the instinctual side that has been hidden. This quick and easy book making project is remarkably and wondrously imperfect!

I use the reconstructed books for my Visual Journaling practice, but I’ve had many participants love the outcome of their Reconstructed Journal so much, they left it as is as an artist book-no further expression or decoration. You can use the Reconstructed Journal for any project; as a visual journal, whereby the richly textured pages become background for hand lettering combined with artwork, or possibly you paint over the pages to create a uniquely textured blank book for journal writing or sketching. Whatever you choose to do with this unique project is up to you; the possibilities are endless!

- 1 full color downloadable pdf pamphlet that provides complete instructions for accessing the workshop.
- 1 full color printable eBook in pdf format that provides detailed instructions for every step of Reconstruction including how to choose a book (and how NOT to choose a book!) and a supply list (supply list is fairly minimal and basic- you probably have most of the items in your home or office!).
- Extensive video that supports and clarifies the written instructions.
- Extra video footage of my personal collection of Reconstruction Journals so you can view the easy layering!
- Recommended reference library (we love books!) where I present my favorite books about Altering Books.
- Private discussion groups to share completed projects and receive feedback from me!!
